Special Guest: Micaela Morris

1)  Share info about you, where you are from originally and where you are now, and what you do.

Hello, I’m Micaela Morris from Elizabeth City, North Carolina. I’m a bestselling author, an experienced HR professional with over eight years in the field, and the CEO of Micaela Morris LLC, where I serve as a Purpose Alignment Consultant. My work is dedicated to helping leaders unlock their full potential by strengthening their confidence, shifting their mindset, and leading with strategic clarity. Through workshops and speaking engagements, I address key topics such as workplace culture, mindset transformation, voice discovery, confidence-building, and strategic planning, equipping leaders with the tools they need to thrive.

2)  What have you overcome?  Share a little about your topic.

As a Black woman leader in a predominantly white, male-dominated industry, I have navigated the challenge of being overlooked despite having the knowledge, expertise, and value to contribute. There was a pivotal moment when I grew tired of being unheard in spaces where I knew I was meant to stand out.

While I had always spoken up, my voice often didn’t carry the weight it deserved in certain rooms. That realization pushed me to take up more space, embrace boldness, and communicate with greater confidence and authority. I learned that leadership isn’t just about having the right answers, it’s about ensuring that your presence, perspective, and expertise are recognized and respected.

3)  How did you know you needed to change?

I knew it was time for a change when I found myself feeling drained by midday, day after day. I realized I wasn’t showing up with the same energy, passion, and confidence that I naturally exuded around family and friends. It became clear—I wasn’t operating at my fullest potential, and something had to shift.

4)  What steps did you take to implement change?

I refined the way I spoke by creating personal affirmations, became a disruptor in my role by proactively taking on projects, advocated for myself with intention, and ensured that my voice was both seen and heard in every room I entered.

5)  What encouraging words can you leave for the readers.

Change in any situation begins with a crucial first step, acknowledging that you want something better, something more, or simply recognizing that you are enough. Once you take that step, follow it with intentional action.

Start by identifying your strengths and clarifying your reasons for pursuing this change. Then, outline three specific actions you will take that same day to move forward. Commit to this practice for a week, and at the end of that week, reflect on your progress.

This becomes your personal achievement record—a tangible reminder of the steps you’ve taken and the progress you’ve made. It serves as proof, both to yourself and others, that you are actively driving change and positioning yourself for success.

6)  What is your favorite quote?

If you are facing a new challenge or being asked to do something that you have never done before don’t be afraid to step out. You have more capability than you think you do but you will never see it unless you place a demand on yourself for more.  Joyce Meyer
